PTC #31 Original Carousel Horse

PTC #31 Outside Stander
Older restoration. Rare 3/4 leg up position.
From PTC Philadelphia Toboggan Company carousel #31 made in 1914.
Very rare chariot horse.

A stander that went next to the chariot and is slightly smaller then a normal outside row stander.
This stander is 54″ tall and 54″ long. Height platform to saddle 34″ body length 38″.

The restoration is an older one from 25 years ago and there are some minor cracks as can be seen in the pictures.  The artisans from Knott’s went crazy painting this piece as you can see in the pictures. This paint job would be almost impossible to duplicate. Jewels on both sides of the horse. The mane is a very elaborate wrap around so large it hides the pole area from view on the outside. Very hard to find aspect.
This and the other PTC #31 Stander we have offered came from the estate and was owned by Bud Hurlbut who owned all of the rides and attractions at Knott’s Berry Farm. He sold the whole carousel piece by piece at auction in 1990 by Norton auctioneers but kept this piece for himself in the drafting room office he liked it that much.
This carousel frame today is at Seabreeze Park in NY running with all new wooden horses on it. The original PTC #31 with the original horses PTC # 31 last operated at Lakeside Park, Dayton, OH.
